THAILAND PROGRAM |
 |
| |
The Heinrich Boell Foundation’s program in Thailand focuses on and expands its activities in the areas:
Gender Politics is the third element of the Heinrich Boell Foundation’s core program in Thailand. This includes women’s empowerment as well as a gender-inclusive call to women and men to participate in taking on responsibility for attaining gender democracy. From the latter angle, gender politics presents itself as cross-cutting task to be taken into account in all of HBF’s activities.
Beyond, a special program had evolved from the Foundation’s intention to promote a sustainable mid- and long-term recovery and rehabilitation of communities affected by the Tsunami disaster in December 2004: Tsunami Aid Watch (TAW).
Conceptualized as a special contribution to HBF’s broader Development Watch initiatives, TAW has aimed to link the post-Tsunami recovery to the longer range participatory planning, implementation and decision-making processes of communal development projects. TAW has targeted the structural shortcomings that were related to Tsunami Aid packages and their implementation from a perspective of participation, sustainability, democratization and good governance.
